“There were strange growths” that “you’d never see in a normal human pancreas,” Dr. Butler said.
Dr. Peter Butler of U.C.L.A. is calling into question the safety of certain type 2 diabetes drugs (including Januvia) saying they could lead to pancreatic cancer. He is not calling for the drugs to be removed from the market but believes more studies need to be done, specifically using M.R.I. scans to see if use of the drugs is causing patients pancreases to enlarge.
Will this change how you approach diabetes drugs and their use or is it more of the same; scary warnings at the end of drug commercials that you ignore? Leave a comment and let us know.
