Weddings and Diabetes

Last month I photographed two weddings where the star was a diabetic bride.
Week one, Kate and Doug.
Week two, Jess and Gavin.

I learned several important lessons.
1. Always keep glucose tabs close at hand. Even if you don’t need them, someone else may.

2. I want to sew a pocket for my insulin pump into all of my clothes-if it works on a wedding dress, why wouldn’t it work on my t-shirt?

Jess’s pump pocket. She even had her fathers birth bracelet sewn into the pocket- something borrowed, something blue.

3. Photo booths are awesome. Broken Pancreas is growing.
Kate sent me this photo from her photo booth and said “I told him after I saw the photo that our photographer was the one behind it all and that you even had to give me glucose tabs so I could walk down the aisle!”
